Giant Butterfly Over Hamilton Park

Hamilton Park was a buzz of activity yesterday afternoon before the Super Bowl — football, baseball, softball, tennis, etc. And, the wind was just strong enough to lift this monarch butterfly kite up toward the clouds.

I’ve been enjoying the sky and cloud photography in many of the local blogs I follow. Yesterday’s effort at Pasadena Daily Photo was incredible. Avenue to the Sky has a great piece up showcasing Mt. Wilson and the tower cam.

I was tracking the kite and found this picture of the clouds and mountains looking east just over the tree-tops.

Brenda, I hope you get good winds over in AZ for kite flying. It does look fun. We were at the park playing softball and my daughter said, “look a butterfly!” I looked around and there it was — a giant butterfly up in the air.

You have a really nice one here!I've been also shooting these type of scenes, but so many others have been blogging about them, it's easier for me to showcase other things.

Did you ever make the newspaper/wooden stick kites? My dad used to help us make them, tying an old piece of sheet as the tail. As fun as making and flying them were, I want a butterfly one… COOL!

Lovely. I never had much luck with kites but mine were of the 25 cent variety.
